What should I bring to my appointment?
If you have had any diagnostic tests performed-X-Ray, MRI, Blood tests etc. in relation to the injury/problem, it is advisable to bring them along as we will take these into consideration when assessing your overall health. Also if you have had any prior treatment performed in relation to the issue(s) of concern, it may be worthwhile to bring details of this also.
Do I need a referral?
No, referrals are not necessary at our clinic.

Do you have a HICAPS terminal?
Yes, we have a HICAPS terminal on the premises for processing of health fund rebates on the spot.
What should I wear?
Loose fitting clothing is advised though not essential for Acupuncture/Massage. If not practical, it is easy enough to change into one of our robes for more efficient access to certain areas of the body.
Can I drive afterwards?
Occasionally you may feel slightly light-headed after acupuncture/massage therapy, though this usually subsides quite fast. If you drove to see us, then you will be able to drive away also.
Is it safe?
YES, all treatments performed at Evolution Medical Care are safe.
All of the practitioners at our clinic have undergone extensive training in their related professions and are either fully qualified, accredited, insured and/or nationally registered with AHPRA. This means that our practitioners are well aware of safety boundaries within their chosen profession that other less-trained practitioners are not.
Is Acupuncture safe during pregnancy?
If you suspect that you are pregnant it is very important to let your practitioner know. Acupuncture is safe when performed with consideration of pregnancy. All of the practitioners at our clinic are highly experienced in working with various stages of pregnancy-whether it be retaining early-stage pregnancy, morning sickness, aches and pains or labour induction. The practitioner will use various points and techniques to assist with each stage/complaint.
Does Acupuncture hurt? I’m scared of needles
When explaining what is felt during the process of acupuncture, we often describe the sensations as like a mosquito bite as we insert the needle and then a dull aching or throbbing sensation when the needle reaches it’s appropriate depth.
The strength of these sensations varies depending upon the individual and their presentation; a lot of the time nothing is felt and other times the sensation can be quite strong where the practitioner may reduce the sensation if necessary.
Is there an alternative to needles?
Yes, there are several modalities of treatment that we offer which are associated with acupuncture but do not necessarily involve needles. They are acupressure, moxibustion, auriculotherapy, press-tacks/pellets and cupping therapy.
How many treatments will I need?
The answer to this question involves a large variable: You.
If it is an acute condition, it may well only require 1, 2 or 3 sessions of treatment. Of course, more developed/chronic conditions may require more extensive/ongoing treatment. This is not to say that treatment is only a band-aid treatment, but that the effects of treatment are cumulative in nature-we often recommend more frequent treatment in the beginning and as you improve less and less frequent treatment will be necessary.
To accommodate people with conditions which may require more frequent treatment, we offer treatment plans-if you are willing to invest in yourself, we want to help! Such treatment plans involve paying up-front in order to receive a discounted price.
Will this interfere with my medication/other treatments?
In the majority of circumstances, No. There are some circumstances when certain treatments are not to be used, and in such a situation your practitioner will identify this and use alternate treatment methods which are suitable for your unique presentation to get results.
At our clinic, we operate on a booking system. If you are unable to attend your booking, please let us know via any of our contact methods ASAP so that we can re-arrange our appointments and not be left waiting for your attendance.
We have an automated SMS reminder service for all bookings which you should receive 24 hrs in advance as well as an email reminder 3 days in advance.
If for some reason you fail to attend your appointment time without calling/reply SMS/emailing prior to the appointment time to let us know that you will need to reschedule/cancel, we will charge a no-show fee to the value of the booked appointment.
